The title chosen by the Biennale curator Massimiliano Gioni is “Il Palazzo Enciclopedico – The Encyclopaedic Palace“. The title evokes the Italian-American artist Marino Auriti that on November 16, 1955 filed a design with the US Patent office depicting his Palazzo Enciclopedico (The Encyclopaedic Palace), an imaginary museum that was meant to host all the knowledge of the world, gathering the greatest discoveries of man, from the wheel to the satellite.
