Magister Giotto Exhibit at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia
From July 13, 2017, the MAGISTER exhibition trilogy started inside the Scuola Grande della Misericordia, recently reopened and become the largest multipurpose exhibition space in Venice, second only to the Doge’s Palace in St. Mark’s Square as concerns largeness.
The trilogy consists of annual exhibitions dedicated to the great Masters of Italian Art, one for each period between the late Middle Ages (Giotto), the Neoclassic (Canova) and the Renaissance (Raffaello): 2017 is the year of MAGISTER GIOTTO, during the 750th anniversary of Giotto’s birth.
The exhibition aims to be an extraordinary journey between the life and art of Giotto, a narrative trip that involves Giotto’s Franciscan Stories of Assisi, his masterpiece in the Chapel of the Scrovegni in Padua, his majestic Crucifixes, to the present days with the space ‘Mission Giotto’ in 1986, created by the European Space Agency which for the first time in history intercepted the Halley Comet, painted by Giotto in the Apparition of the Wise Men in the Scrovegni Chapel. All accompanied by the narrator voice of actor Luca Zingaretti (worldwide known as the “Commissario Montalbano”) and the music of Paolo Fresu (among the best jazz and contemporary trumpetists).
Locanda Fiorita recommends all guests to visit Magister Giotto and the Scuola Grande della Misericordia.
