Biennale Architettura 2020
How will we live together? Never before has the Biennial dedicated to Architecture been more appropriately titled, given the difficult period we are currently experiencing. These same difficulties have caused the Biennale Architettura 2020 to be moved from May to August 2020. In fact, 29 August 2020 also brings the inauguration of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, with the pre-opening on 27 and 28 August.
The Biennale Architettura will take place at its usual location in Venice between the Central Pavilion of the Gardens and the Arsenale, as well as in Mestre in the evocative Forte Marghera. 114 architects from 46 countries will tackle the theme of “living together” by Hashim Sarkis, the Lebanese architect, teacher, and curator of Biennale Architettura 2020.
“We need a new spatial contract. In the context of widening political divides and growing economic inequalities, we call on architects to imagine spaces in which we can generously live together” said Hashim Sarkis, who, in addition to the architecture competition, has also created the new “Stations+Cohabitats” involving researchers from all over the world.
Locanda Fiorita is your strategic starting point to visit the Biennale Architettura, just a stone’s throw from the vaporetto that takes you directly to the Gardens, the Arsenale, and Piazzale Roma, where there are also buses leaving for Forte Marghera.
