October 27 brings the return of the Venicemarathon, the marathon with the finish line in the historical center of Venice.
Runners from all over the world will unite in Venice on October 27 to celebrate the 34th Venicemarathon, with an Olympic distance of 42,195 km. Recognized worldwide and with a certified IAAF Bronze Label (International Association of Athletics Federations) and FIDAL Gold Label (Federation of Italian Athletics), the Venice Marathon is a classic event in the international marathon circuit.
In fact, the race is one of the most stunning in the whole world, drawing thousands of runners to the starting line. The route starts between the Venetian Villas on the Brenta Riviera, crosses Mestre, then reaches Venice with a quick visit at Piazza San Marco before ending on the panoramic Riva dei Sette Martiri.
New this year: in addition to the usual support of the spectators, runners will also be serenaded by a number of musical groups along the route.
The Venice Marathon is very close to the hearts of Venetians, both on the mainland and in the historical center, and is a true celebration for Venice. In the days leading up to the Venicemarathon, you can breathe in the lively, yet serene, atmosphere as athletes and their entourages crowd the hotels and restaurants and can be seen strolling along the calli and campielli. Not to mention the rich program of collateral events that take place at the Exposport Venicemarathon Village at the San Giuliano Park in Mestre, a large green area 5 minutes from Venice.
